The Local Charity Support Group, formerly known as The Greyhound
Social Committee was formed in 1984.
We began as a group of people who met socially and who had ideas about
how to raise money to help people in the local community.
Although our name has changed, little else has. We are a registered
charity and hold monthly progress meetings, although we continue to
meet socially with the aim of raising funds by holding events such as
the Annual Race and Cabaret Night and the Annual Darts Marathon, along
with other events throughout the year.
Our main objective is to be able to support our local community and so
it is vital to us that should we be approached by someone who needs
our help locally we are able to assist in some way.
In the past we have made donations to larger charities such as Guide
Dogs For The Blind and we hope that in the future we will have the
funds available to support other larger charities too.
However, it is important to us not to lose sight of our main
objective, which is to help people in need close to home.
If you know someone who would benefit from our help please don't
hesitate to contact us.
Unfortunately, as a registered charity, we are unable to make
donations to Government run bodies i.e. Education.
If you browse through the website you will see information of who to
contact and how. There is also information of forthcoming events and
dates for your diary. If you have been to one of our fundraisers
before, thank you for your support and we look forward to seeing you
again. If you haven't, we are sure you will have a great time whilst
helping to raise funds for some very worthwhile causes.
We hope that our fundraising will continue to be supported by local
people for local people and we look forward to hearing from you and
seeing you at our next event.
